Towards "Natural" Interactions in Search User Interfaces
Key Trends in Technology Use What does the future hold for search user interfaces? The familiar web search interface of today works well for millions of people and billions of queries a year. Very few innovations in search interfaces gain wide enough acceptance to replace the standard type-keywords-in-entry-form, viewresults-in-a-vertical-results-list interface. This is in part because search i...
متن کاملSWSNL: Semantic Web Search Using Natural Language
As modern search engines are approaching the ability to deal with queries expressed in natural language, full support of natural language interfaces seems to be the next step in the development of future systems. The vision is that of users being able to tell a computer what they would like to find, using any number of sentences and as many details as requested. In this article we describe our ...
متن کاملNatural Language Inference as Triggered Submodel Search
I propose a simple, general framework for the interaction of inference with natural language interpretation. First, inference is only available when triggered by the violation of highly ranked constraints. Second, inference is constrained to be a search for a minimal submodel. I show that this correctly captures facts concerning deaccenting, ellipsis, and reciprocal interpretation.
متن کاملParsing Natural Language using Guided Local Search
In this paper an application of guided local search (GLS) to the problem of natural language parsing is presented. The given parsing approach is situated in a constraint based parsing paradigm [10] that allows natural language processing in a robust and resource adaptive way [16]. Some extensions of GLS are introduced, most notably a multi-threaded search where a couple of agents cooperate with...
متن کاملSemantic Search Components: A Blueprint for Effective Query Language Interfaces
Formulating complex queries is hard, especially in heterogeneous information environments, where users do not understand all the data structures of multiple complex knowledge bases. We see a gap between semantic search tools that are user friendly, but have restricted functionality, and powerful, formal query languages, which are unsuitable for end users. We explore the complexity of semantic q...
